Enjoy the cool breeze in a casual tropical setting. The DUNE DECK CAFÉ offers a treasure chest of delicious dining combined with Florida’s best scenery.

One cannot help but be absorbed in the mise-en-scene palm fronds swaying, sea grapes, multi-colored flowers, and broad sweep of sand and surf of the Atlantic Ocean with it’s balmy breezes that invite you to escape to the Caribbean, the French Riviera or the Greek Isles.

Hidden behind some seagrapes on the beach side of a large municipal parking lot lies an unexpected gem of a local restaurant.

Parking is not free or even cheap. Bring a roll of quarters, because parking is 10 minutes per quarter. Once out of the car, you'll smell those smells and know you are in the right place.

It looks a little downscale, maybe because it sits immediately adjacent to the Ritz. This is a beach cafe, not a sandy floor but close. Nothing fancy at all, but you must wait for a table, because despite its decent size, there is almost always a wait.

It is especially well known for its breakfasts, and what a setting for brunch overlooking the beach at dawn or shortly thereafter. Awesome views of the ocean.

We went for lunch, expecting diner food. I had the Dune burger, an 8 oz monstrosity slathered in cheese, grilled onions, bacon, and lettuce and tomato with extra crispy fries, cole slaw and pickle. It was a platter of food, no way could I finish it. My wife had the fish sandwich of the day, and she finished her man-sized portions before I did, except the fries.

Service was prompt and friendly.

We were strategically positioned near the kitchen and saw a lot of items go out. Everything looked wonderful, especially the salads, and BIG.

Great choice for casual cheap food with a view and decent people-watching.

Not open for dinner.
