Cheap Ocean-Front Brunch and Lunch
Hidden behind some seagrapes on the beach side of a large municipal parking lot lies an unexpected gem of a local restaurant.
Parking is not free or even cheap. Bring a roll of quarters, because parking is 10 minutes per quarter. Once out of the car, you'll smell those smells and know you are in the right place.
It looks a little downscale, maybe because it sits immediately adjacent to the Ritz. This is a beach cafe, not a sandy floor but close. Nothing fancy at all, but you must wait for a table, because despite its decent size, there is almost always a wait.
It is especially well known for its breakfasts, and what a setting for brunch overlooking the beach at dawn or shortly thereafter. Awesome views of the ocean.
We went for lunch, expecting diner food. I had the Dune burger, an 8 oz monstrosity slathered in cheese, grilled onions, bacon, and lettuce and tomato with extra crispy fries, cole slaw and pickle. It was a platter of food, no way could I finish it. My wife had the fish sandwich of the day, and she finished her man-sized portions before I did, except the fries.
Service was prompt and friendly.
We were strategically positioned near the kitchen and saw a lot of items go out. Everything looked wonderful, especially the salads, and BIG.
Great choice for casual cheap food with a view and decent people-watching.
Not open for dinner.
