Good Food, Cute Place, Nice People
I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the Olive Tree restaurant in Hilliard. I was expecting a hole in the wall takeout with a few seats. Instead, I found a clean, spacious but still intimate restaurant.
I had read all of the nice reviews about it being a family run business, having a large vegetarian offer, and serving large portions of reasonably priced Mediterrean food. I had to try it, although it is way off the beaten path for me. The place delivered as advertised, and was well worth the special effort to try it.
The food here is fresh and delicious. I had a gyro with fries (pretty pedestrian, I know). I had to takeout as I was on the move. It was an acute case of mobile sloppy deliciousness. Once Oprah has finished her mission on stopping mobile texting, she should immediately turn her attention to the equally dangerous problem of mobile gyros. I have the stains to prove it.
I was there early for lunch so I got to watch the whole thing being made. The pita was freshly prepared, and packed with meat, lettuce, tomato, onions, banana peppers, and a spicy and delicious tzatziki sauce. Out of this world! The well spiced fries were delious too, although way more than I could eat.
They have all of your favorite Med food - hummus, pita sandwiches of gyro, falafel, kafta kabab, or chicken, and lots of salads. They have an even larger menu for dinner.
There are a ton of things on the menu that I want to try, so hope see you there. What a great little hidden neighborhood gem.
