Sorry, Dewey, but you're not the best pizza in town. Not even close.

I had read that this Cincinnati import was serving some really great pizza, winning hearts in Arlington and Grandview. This is a tough pizza neighborhood, with old-line stalwarts like Roltolo's, Panzera's, Tommy's being currently challenged by relative newcomers like Bono's, Sparano's, and Dewey's. Despite being a relatively simple dish of bread, cheese, tomatoes, and some addons, no other dish inspires such fiery rhetoric about whose is the best than pizza. Some people swear by Tommy's. Rotolo's is tops with many. Tempers flare if you disagree with another's favorite so i know I am thin ice here. But it's not even close.

Deweys is an attractive fast casual restaurant, sitting right on Fifth Avenue next to the car wash.
They have adeqaute parking, and nice big bar and beer list.

But the pizza is just average, in my book. I had a combo 11" pizza, one half pepperoni, and the other half their special vegetarian model. Honestly, neither side was a winner, or even a strong entrant. Both sides had way too much bread and crust, the tomato sauce was good but not great, and the whole thing lacked character, flavor and that je ne sais quoi that makes Tommy's and Rotolo's so special. I appreciated the fresh toppings on the veggie side, but without the right seasonings it was just ok, and next time can I have some pep on my pep?

Nice enough place but for over $10 I was expecting more.
